STAT MedEvac in York, PA
STAT MedEvac, a service of the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, Inc., is a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week medical helicopter operator with a base at the York Airport. They have a fleet of 17 MedEvac helicopters located strategically throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, and the District of Columbia to provide the fastest possible emergency response times. The company is headquartered at the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, PA. The York base was established in 2003.
STAT MedEvac’s primary mission is to provide immediate advanced care and to transport ill and critically-injured patients to regional medical centers.
The helicopter based at York — STAT MedEvac 13 — is a twin-engine Eurocopter EC-135. It is equipped with the latest avionics, including weather radar, Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), and Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS). The crew consists of a pilot, flight nurse, and flight paramedic, each outfitted with Night Vision Goggles (NVG’s). The fleet also includes the more significant, twin-engine EC-145.
